Elypso smart thermostat for the SALUS Smart Home

When we introduced the iT800WIFI thermostat, it quickly became one of our most recognisable products. Customers appreciated its clean, circular design, intuitive control, and modern look. It was a thermostat people genuinely liked having and using.

And very quickly, we heard the same question again and again:

“Can I use this thermostat in my SALUS Smart Home too?”

That question is exactly how Elypso was born.

Same design inspiration, different purpose

At first glance, Elypso and iT800WIFI look very similar. This is intentional. The design of the iT800WIFI proved popular, so SALUS brought the same visual language into its Smart Home range.

However, while the two thermostats share a similar appearance, they are built for very different heating applications. Understanding this difference is essential when choosing the right thermostat.

Out-of-the-box operation

Single-system control

Dedicated receiver included

Limited expansion

Direct Wi-Fi

The iT800WIFI is a standalone smart thermostat. It connects directly to Wi Fi and is controlled through an app. It is designed to manage a single heating system without being part of a wider smart home setup.

In practice, this means one thermostat controlling one heating system, with no gateway or additional smart home devices required.

The iT800WIFI thermostat is ideal if you want a simple replacement thermostat, have a single zone heating system, and do not plan to expand into a smart home ecosystem.

Elypso smart thermostat. Built for the SALUS Smart Home ecosystem

Elypso is not a standalone Wi-Fi thermostat.

Elypso is a smart thermostat designed to work within the SALUS Smart Home ecosystem. It communicates using Zigbee and connects to a SALUS gateway, which acts as the hub of the system.

In this system architecture, the gateway manages the internet connection, cloud access, and automation logic. Elypso provides local temperature control and room level settings. Other SALUS smart devices such as thermostatic radiator valves, underfloor heating controllers, and boiler control modules operate together as one connected system.

This approach enables multi room heating control, smart scheduling, and long term system expansion.

Why the difference between Elypso and iT800WIFI matters

Although Elypso and iT800WIFI share a similar design, they are not interchangeable.

The iT800WIFI is designed for simple, standalone installations. Elypso is designed for smart home systems where multiple devices and zones work together.

Choosing the correct thermostat from the start helps avoid installation issues, system limitations, and unnecessary complexity later on.

Which thermostat should you choose

Choose iT800WIFI if you want a straightforward Wi Fi thermostat, have a single heating zone, and do not require smart home integration.

Choose Elypso if you want room by room temperature control, plan to use smart radiator valves or underfloor heating, want a system that can grow over time, or are installing or planning a SALUS Smart Home gateway.

One design, two clear solutions

SALUS kept the same design because it works. It is intuitive, familiar, and looks good in modern homes. What differs is how the thermostats are used within the heating system.

The iT800WIFI thermostat offers simple, standalone heating control.
The Elypso smart thermostat delivers integrated heating control as part of the SALUS Smart Home ecosystem.

Same design inspiration. Different application.
The right choice depends on how you want your heating system to work.
